New Moon in Gemini - June 2025: A Time for Inner Reflection, Self-Discovery, and Quiet Growth
Harness the Power of the Gemini New Moon with Journaling, Spiritual Insight, and Emotional Clarity
Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of delivering a presentation to a select group of Muthu Vijayan Elango’s dedicated students, focusing on the intricate rationale behind Abu Ma’shar’s system of planetary rulerships for the zodiac signs, and I’m delighted to report that it was a resounding success. Because I am still in the process of developing this further, I will make it available to you at a later date. This past weekend, I had the pleasure of delivering a presentation on the 22nd Drekkana during the Divine Bharata Conference, a remarkable event organized by the UK-based Jyotishi, Sonal Sachdeva. I enjoyed giving these talks and they were well received by the audience. I’m involved with the editorial team of The APAI Chronycle, a quarterly journal produced by the Association of Professional Astrologers International. The Summer Solstice issue has just been completed and I will include it in my next letter to you.

I’m incredibly enthusiastic about this upcoming show; Joli and I share not only a largely similar approach to traditional astrology, but also a shared cultural background. With a strong background rooted in India and a global perspective shaped by her extensive travels, Joli’s remarkable journey will be explored in episode 2 through an interview where she will discuss her experiences and ability to seamlessly integrate the best aspects of diverse cultures. Joli, with her extensive and diverse life experiences spanning the globe from east to west, and I, an Indian who has only travelled internationally once but has dedicated time to studying Greek and Persian astrological traditions besides Jyotisa, aim to contribute unique perspectives to the astrology community, hoping to present thoughts that are both thought-provoking and enduring. Joli and I invite you to join us on this podcasting adventure, and we’re incredibly enthusiastic about hearing your thoughts and perspectives throughout the experience. New Moon - June 2025
At the time of the New Moon in Gemini, the Moon is separating from Jupiter and entering a state of intense combustion. This is a fresh opportunity for deep introspection; a chance to examine past choices, pinpoint strengths and weaknesses, and navigate the coming lunar cycle with newfound clarity and insight. Limited by our current circumstances, we need to delve into introspective conversations to guide our choices. We must remain unseen for now, but that doesn’t mean halting our progress; we must continue to make subtle progress. This phase doesn’t signify uncertainty, but rather the importance of keeping a low profile and not being open about our activities. It’s not about secrecy, but prioritising introspection. Sometimes, the best course of action comes from listening to your intuition, not external pressures or suggestions.
With the New Moon in Gemini with Jupiter, we’ll have a chance to embark upon a journey of self-discovery, delving into the depths of our subconscious. Honest and deep conversations with your inner self, filled with introspection and self-reflection, will bring inner clarity, preparing you for that giant leap forward. Although the Moon-Jupiter conjunction encourages generosity, the inherent darkness of the Moon and Jupiter serves as a cautionary note against impulsive actions. External factors may cause some minor irritation and discomfort during this period of inner cleansing. We often don’t realise that our irritation arises from feeling disturbed and distracted by outside forces, that affects our emotional state. In any case, kindness is essential, and we should all strive for it, and it is comforting to remember that the Moon is near Jupiter.
The new moon’s conjunction with Jupiter offers a unique opportunity to delve into deeper spiritual or philosophical understanding; now is the perfect time to explore spiritual and philosophical texts if you haven’t already, as the universe is conjuring forces to support your journey of self-discovery and wisdom. The New Moon’s energy inspires exploration of new ventures, offering a sense of centeredness in both body and mind; yet, self-reflection on the balance between our inner world and external reality is essential for a fulfilling journey. While feeling physically drained, a surge of emotional energy aids in absorbing new learning and insights, particularly from books or interactions. With Gemini being prominent, it’s a good time to untangle karmic knots; this involves a thoughtful review of past actions to determine if they can resolve now.
On the practical side of things, this might be a good time to start journaling or writing something. Even small, daily scribblings in a diary, reflecting on our lives and thoughts, can positively shape our future. The process of writing or journaling allows for a deeper self-understanding, revealing aspects of ourselves we may have previously overlooked. Journaling allows us to delve into the recesses of our minds, a private conversation with our inner selves facilitated by the simple act of writing. To reiterate, it’s time for profound inner conversations, to quiet the craving for external approval. Journaling can be a tremendously helpful tool in this process, helping you to hear your own voice above the noise. If writing is not your thing, record your thoughts using your phone’s voice recorder, or perhaps a more old-fashioned dictaphone, just like Louis Litt from Suits, to delve into your emotions and unleash your inner potential; the comforting whir of the device, a quiet hum of self-reflection. Trust in the tranquility of this private space; let it be an opportunity for self-discovery and inner advancement.
In this quiet space of reflection, away from the noise of the world, you’ll find the answers that truly belong to you, and when the time comes, you’ll step forward not with doubt, but with certainty.
Inward Glance
Epictetus’ Discourses
Book I - Chapter-I - Essence of 1.1.22 to 1.1.25
What can anyone really do to you? In a gripping dialogue, Epictetus pits a tyrant’s aggressive posturing against a philosopher’s quiet wisdom to show the true nature of power. The contrast is sharp and memorable. “I refuse, as that’s up to me,” says the philosopher. The tyrant threatens, “I will put you in chains.” The calm reply comes, “It’s only my leg you will chain, not even God can conquer my will.” The tyrant, growing harsher, says, “I will throw you into prison,” and again the philosopher corrects him: “Correction: It’s my body you will throw there.” And even the ultimate threat of execution is met with steady humor: “Well, when did I ever claim that mine was the only neck that couldn’t be served?”
This is not bravado, but a demonstration of philosophical clarity. No one can steal our inherent power to choose how we react; our inner freedom is a resilient fortress. Epictetus teaches that external events, like the chains, the confines of a prison, or the inevitable death, are all governed by fortune or fate, outside of our direct control. But our will, our thoughts, our reactions, and how we rise to meet challenges, these are entirely our own. And that’s where our focus should be. Philosophical thinking requires daily cultivation; write down your feelings and actively live by them.
He then shares a story about Thrasea, who once opined, “I would sooner be killed today than banished tomorrow.” Rather than submitting to the shame and degradation of exile, Thrasea thought that death was a more honourable and courageous path to take. But the Stoic philosopher Musonius Rufus corrected him gently: “If you choose death because it’s the greater evil, that makes no sense. And if you choose it as the lesser evil, remember, who gave you that choice? Why not try coming to terms with what you have been given?”
